ASPEN MARTIN has just released his new EP Everything Or Nothing. This is a glorious comeback project from Georgia singer, rapper and songwriter, who has been on hiatus from music for the last two years.
The 6-track EP features some stellar production, including from CMPLX, who has previously worked with Drake, Rich Homie Quan, and Roy Woods, as well as production duo Tha Officialz, whose production credits include working with 6LACK, J.I.D, Mereba, and T.I.
AC: Let’s talk about your upcoming EP ‘Everything Or Nothing’. What does this body of work mean to you?
ASPEN MARTIN – It means a lot to me because even though it may appear to be six random songs put together. Each song is a snapshot of my life within the past two years. From bad to good times and my issues with an ex and new women. Shit has been crazy.
AC: In the studio, do you have a fear you’d like to conquer?
ASPEN MARTIN – I get self-conscious every now and again, but that’s rare. It makes me overthink and really gets me out of the flow state.

AC: What about outside of the studio?
ASPEN MARTIN – I have a fear of letting go. Because I feel if I do I’ll be missing out on something. And that’s usually not the case.
AC: Where does the creation of a song begin for you?
ASPEN MARTIN – Channeling my emotions. Hands down. As weird as it may sounds. It always starts there then I go through my catalog of instrumentals I haven’t used or new ones that were sent to me to match the emotion to the T.
AC: What was it like working with CMPLX on the record?
ASPEN MARTIN – It was dope. Buddy underrated like hell. I could really do a whole tape off of his production alone to be totally honest.
AC: Who do you feel inspired by in the music industry?
ASPEN MARTIN – Right now DaBaby. That man has an impeccable work ethic that I aspire to obtain.
AC: As a music artist, what are you still trying to learn?
ASPEN MARTIN – To be coachable. Not to say that I am not, but I’m only human I don’t have all the answers all the time and I’m still learning.
AC: Everyone seems to have an app idea at the moment, what’s yours?
ASPEN MARTIN – Funny you asked that cause I’m currently working on a Nightlife experience app with two good friends of mine right now.
AC: How important is social media to you right now?
ASPEN MARTIN – I’ll just say this. If my music really didn’t depend on social media I wouldn’t really be on it heavily. But I will say that it helps me engage with family members that I haven’t seen within the past three years.
AC: Ahead of a gig, do you have any pre-show rituals?
ASPEN MARTIN – Easy. I’ll go out of the way to isolate myself like I don’t like talking to people on the days I have to perform. It gets me out of my zone. Listen to the songs I’ll be performing, meditate for 30 minutes to an hour. Before I get to the venue me and my team will pray before we leave my spot than right before I touch the stage we pray again. Faith is highly important in this game.
AC: What do you want the world to look like in 10 years?
ASPEN MARTIN – Corona-free. Quarantine has been driving me crazy a bit. But honestly.
