How to Make Your Small Business More Efficient

Whether you run your small business from your home or from an office building you want to make it as efficient as possible. Money saved is the same as money earned so if you operate a shrewd business model you will also be interested in the costs associated with the building and the energy practices of your staff and employees.

Solar roof technology

Even if you rent a property for your small business it should be possible to install solar panels that will reduce your running costs and improve your revenue streams. Solar panels are far more efficient these days and can be installed using smaller panels and less space.

Consider the type of mortgage or rent agreement you have for your property and seek permission to install solar panels. Solar panels will not only save you money but your will greater power that you can sell back to the grid.

Energy-efficient windows

If the office or floor of your small business only has single glazed windows the space will cost a lot to heat and your energy costs will be much higher than they need to be. This can be solved in several ways.

The easiest and cheapest way is to hang heavy curtains on the windows that prevent heat loss. Alternatively, you can install double or triple glazed windows that also work in conjunction with a heavy curtain to solve the heat loss issue.

Spray Foam Insulation

Many people work from home these days as well as from offices and businesses, if you’re serious about saving money for your business then consider the type and quality of insulation you have in the walls. Panel insulation can leave gaps that reduce energy efficiency.

Spray foam insulation is much better. It fills in the gaps in all types of wall and reduces heat loss even in older buildings. Spray foam insulation is also useful for fire safety, along with other devices like extinguishers and a fire curtain

Energy-saving light bulbs

Whether it is your home or office that you primarily work from, you will want to reduce your energy consumption and increase your revenue streams by making your building as efficient as possible. One way to do this is with energy-saving light bulbs.

Energy-saving light bulbs use LEDs instead of filament bulbs. They only use a fraction of the power from the grid and last twice as long. If you aren’t using these bulbs for your business these days you are losing out.

Eco appliances

When thinking about making your home or business, or both, more energy-efficient, you need to think about all the factors and organise them so they are all pulling in the right direction. This includes the appliances you use in the kitchen and to heat the water.

These days you can buy eco appliances like kettles, washing machines, and boilers that use far less energy than conventional models. These appliances save you money but you also have to use them responsibly. Installing a smart meter is recommended.
